ALBION UPLIFTS MEDICAL SUPPLIES TO WEST AFRICA
The Albion cargo team arranged the uplift of 130T/850CBM of critical medical supplies to West Africa. The shipment was originally planned and packaged for sea freight, but due to a change in the urgency of the shipment the client requested that the cargo be uplifted by air. Meticulous planning was required to repack the cargo so it could fit within the contours of the chosen charter aircraft. The Albion cargo team worked closely with both the charter airline and supplier to ensure that all of the 500+ skids were suitably repacked for airfreight and that the skid heights were contoured correctly to fit inside the chosen cargo aircraft type. One of the flight managers from Albion also visited the supplier to agree on the final packing arrangements and spent time in the supplier’s warehouse to oversee the entire repacking process.
Lewis King comments: “This shipment was particularly large in size, in excess of 850cbm and more than 500 skids, so required very careful planning and repacking to ensure that all the cargo could be uplifted as planned. Through close coordination with all key stakeholders the charter flights were a success and all the cargo was uplifted on schedule. These flights were just another testament for Albion’s experience and expertise in handling large and complex cargo charter flights ”
