ALBION ARRANGES WIDEBODY CHARTER FLIGHT FOR TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED PHARMA
The Albion cargo team recently coordinated a B747-400F charter flight to uplift a large consignment of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies to Africa, all of which had to be transported under strict temperature-controlled conditions. The total shipment comprised of more than 275x skids weighing in at 97,900kg and 375.49cbm in volume. All cargo was fully stackable, allowing for efficient main-deck load planning and optimal utilization of the B747-400F aircraft’s payload and volume capacity.
Given the nature of the pharmaceuticals, the aircraft hold temperature was maintained between +15°C and +25°C throughout the duration of the flight. The Albion team carefully coordinated the cargo acceptance and cut-off times at the departure airport, managing multiple handling categories including NRFC and RFC shipments, whilst ensuring compliance with the tight acceptance windows required for temperature-sensitive cargo. Free storage periods were closely monitored across the various cargo classifications, with GENCO, pharmaceutical, and cold-chain shipments all managed within their respective time allowances to avoid any additional storage costs.
Through detailed planning, close coordination with handling partners and the airline and continuous flight monitoring, the operation was executed successfully and in full compliance with all temperature and handling requirements. This charter flight further demonstrates Albion Aviation Group’s expertise in managing complex, multi-AWB pharmaceutical charter movements with precision and reliability.
