ALBION RESPONDS TO THE THAILAND & MYNANMAR EARTHQUAKE

On the 28th March 2025 a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck the Sagaing Region of Myanmar, causing widespread damage to regions of Thailand Myanmar.  The Albion cargo team immediately started to receive requests to move humanitarian relief from Europe and parts of Asia to those areas most heavily impacted by the earthquake.  By using their regional knowledge of cargo operators in Southeast Asia the Albion team was able to quickly identify and source a B737-800F and set-up an airbridge from Bangkok Airport (BKK) to surrounding regional airports.  Using Bangkok Airport (BKK) as a consolidation point, cargo could be flown in from Europe on scheduled freighter service before being uplifted on the B737-800F to nearby airports where the relief was needed most.  The Albion team operated a series of B737-800F flights uplifting a range of critical relief supplies including commodities such as tents, blankets and kitchen sets.  Due to the size of some of the tents, the cargo had to be built-up in such a way that it could be loaded and turned around the door of the B737-800F.  This required meticulous load planning with the B737-800F operator and the ground handling agents at both the departure and arrival airports.  All the flights were executed successfully and is another testament to the Albion Aviation Group’s longstanding experience and skill in arranging urgent cargo charter flights anywhere in the world and at a moment’s notice.
