ALBION AVIATION CHARTERS A B747-400BCF TO UPLIFT URGENT MEDICAL SUPPLIES TO CENTRAL AFRICA
The Albion cargo team was tasked with arranging the uplift of essential medical supplies from Europe to Central Africa to help tackle the recent Ebola outbreak. The shipment comprised 476 individual pieces of cargo, totaling approximately 97,037kg in weight and 530cbm in volume. Due to the shipment's high payload and volume, the B747-400BCF was deemed the most suitable aircraft for this cargo.
The Albion team worked closely with both the aircraft operator and the ground handler, as several skids had to be carefully broken down and loaded as loose cargo around the existing BUPs to ensure that the aircraft's contours were fully optimised and that the entire shipment could be accommodated on the B747-400BCF. The Albion team also made arrangements with the ground handler at the departure airport in Europe to extend the cargo acceptance cut-off time. Due to the short lead time between flight confirmation and the scheduled departure, not all suppliers were able to deliver their shipments immediately and therefore required additional time to pack and deliver the cargo. The B747-400BCF departed on schedule, and upon arrival at the destination airport, the consignee immediately arranged onward transportation of the shipment to its final destination in Central Africa.
Once again, the Albion Aviation Group demonstrated its ability to manage complex charter operations under time-sensitive conditions and continues to be a trusted partner for international humanitarian cargo movements.
