ALBION AVIATION ARRANGES ANOTHER B747F CHARTER FLIGHT TO HELP FIGHT EBOLA

The Albion cargo team was once again tasked with arranging the urgent uplift of essential medical supplies from Europe to Central Africa to help tackle the recent Ebola outbreak. The shipment comprised 453 individual pieces of cargo, weighing a total of 97.5T and occupying 432cbm. Due to the size of the shipment, the B747F was deemed the most suitable aircraft.

Careful consideration was given to the load planning to ensure that all 453 pieces of cargo could be uplifted on a single B747F flight. This required close coordination between the Albion cargo team and the B747F operator’s loadmaster. The shipment also included temperature-controlled pharmaceuticals that had to be maintained within specific temperature requirements from the departure airport through to the arrival airport. Arrangements were also made to maintain the cargo hold within the required temperature range throughout the flight.

The B747F departed on schedule and arrived on time at the destination airport in Central Africa, from where the cargo had to be then truck onwards to its final destination. This flight is just one of many humanitarian relief charter flights that the Albion cargo team arranges each year on behalf of international NGOs.
