ALBION TRANSPORTS FIVE AIRBUS H135 HELICOPTERS TO AUSTRALIA
The Albion cargo team recently arranged the uplift of five Airbus H135 training helicopters from the UK to Sydney, Australia on a B747F. The charter flight required meticulous planning to ensure that all the helicopters were dismantled in such a way that allowed them to be loaded in a B747F. All key stakeholders including the helicopter manufacturer, end customer and the airline were involved in the planning of the dismantling of the helicopters and the final loadplan for the B747F. Helicopter shipping stands were specifically designed, manufactured and flown in from Malaysia to ensure that all five helicopters could be transported in such a way that the height of the helicopters didn’t exceed the max hold height of the B747F.
Albion’s director Lewis King was present in the UK for the helicopter dismantling, pallet build-up and even flew on the B747F charter flight all the way Sydney. Lewis King comments: “This was a very special charter flight which required careful planning and coordination with a whole host of different stakeholders right from the early planning stages of the charter flight down to the execution of the flight itself. It was a pleasure to personally see the helicopters being delivered to their new home in Australia, although the B747F charter flight was extremely exhausting for myself…22hrs flight time in total!”
The B747 charter flight was a success and all five Airbus H135 helicopters were delivered safely to their end client in Australia.
