Our private jet charter manager, Annie Lindquist, explains why the Italian island of Capri is always a huge hit every summer.
Every summer I return to Capri and each time I fall more in love with this magical Island. From the moment I land in Naples, I know something very special is waiting for me just on the other side of the Bay. Each time, I am again awestruck by the sheer natural beauty of this island, with its dramatic rocky cliff faces and turquoise sea that I swear is more vibrant every time I lay eyes on it!
This place is all about the senses, from deeply chic and charming sidewalk cafes and shops to wander into or stroll past, stunning sea views literally at every turn (I cannot emphasis this enough!). The freshest most expertly prepared seafood to die for, sounds of cicadas and the scent of lemons, cocktails and terraces to explore, there’s an undeniable air of being in a very special club that the locals cultivate with ease and welcome you into.
This time I returned to the Caesar Augustus hotel in Anacapri and was welcomed in the only way they do here, a huge smile and a genuine happiness to see you. Francesco and his team are celebrating having been just awarded Travel and leisure’s number one resort hotel in Italy, Bravo and well deserved! I am a huge fan and will return soon no doubt.
Our days are spent by the infinity pool gazing over the sea, or riding around on our rented scooters , just taking the beauty in, some days completely content to do nothing, but occasionally get up for a dip in the pool, lunch on the terrace(food at the Caesar Augustus is taken very seriously in true Italian style), or getting our little RIB out on the water to arrive at lunch by sea to Il Riccio, a cliffside restaurant which is my number one favourite in all of Capri. Lunch or dinner is an experience never to be forgotten and it just so happens to be next to The Blue Grotto, (the luminescent cave which is an unreal experience). If one waits for the tourists boats to finish around 4.30pm and you are the slightly adventurous type, dive in and swim into the cave yourself, often being the only ones there….it’s truly magical.
On a whole, Capri simply never fails to impress year after year and we are always left wanting more, but relaxed and happy that we will return next year to “more” of the same.
